As Reiki is becoming more and more popular, many people intrigued and want to enroll in Reiki Classes. In this article, we’re going to explain to you what are they and what to expect. Reiki is a healing practice where the energy of the teacher is transmitted to the patient’s body through touch. That activates the healing characteristics so that the recipient can heal physically and emotionally. It falls in the category of alternative medicine, discovered in 1922 by Japanese Buddhist Mikao Usui. Later on, many other name-variations came out, having the names ‘palm healing’ or ‘hands-on healing.’

There are three levels of Reiki, and you need to pass all three levels to become a Master Teacher. We highly recommend you to spend at least six months before going to the next level. For example, if you are initiated and attuned to Reiki I, you have to practice it for at least six months before taking the second course. This is because your life changes taking each class, and you have to undergo several changes in life in order to get ready for the next level.

Every one of us is different and has different issues and problems to pay attention to, so don’t ever compare with someone else. Now, let’s dive into the process of taking the first degree Reiki class.

Reiki Classes Preparation

It would be best if you arrived right on time. You need to avoid nicotine, caffeine, meat, and passion one day before the class. The clothes you wear should be comfortable, and it’s recommended to be made from natural fibers like cotton, wool, silk, etc. Remove all the nylon stockings and do not wear clothes that have skulls, skeletons, or some dark slogans containing words like kill, death, die, etc.

Classes usually last for two days, 6 hours each day, so be sure to eat something at home.

Reiki Master Teacher

Reiki classes are always led by a Reiki Master Teacher. Please choose your teacher very carefully. The teacher will be your connection to the divine energy. He/she should guide you through life changes further on and should always be here for you.

Mater teachers should be humble, spiritually gifted, and capable of explaining everything about Reiki. You have to feel comfortable around them.

They should not be sales-persons or interfering, and they should have their life sorted out emotionally, financially, mentally, and spiritually. How can someone be your guide to positive changes if he/she hasn’t found their path yet?

Once you meet your instructor, meet your classmates, talking and drinking some herbal tea. During this time, you need to feel comfortable in your classroom.

Usually, classes start with the definition of Reiki as the ‘Universal Life Energy.’ The theoretical part consists of many topics that have a spiritual nature. We are on Earth, and we have laws like labor law, criminal law, etc. that are in accordance with our life and order here. The Universe has its own laws, universal laws which are in accordance with our spiritual nature. These two laws should always be in balance.

Attunement and Initiation During Reiki Classes

After the theoretical part, each person from the group will be initiated and attuned by the master teacher. This is a process in which your teacher is connecting you to the source of universal energy and allows that energy to flow through you. Reiki attunement will open and expand the Qi energy holding capacity and also will cleanse the blocked energy paths.

When you experience a Reiki treatment, you will see that the teachers will open the chakras, so that the energy they need to transmit passes through them. The attunement process is the thing that makes Reiki different from other healing systems.  After the initiation, your group will gather again and share experiences.

Reiki Practice

Now it’s time for the practice. You will first learn how to make a self-treatment, and after you will be shown how to treat others.

At the end of the class, you passed Level 1. You have permanent Reiki attunement. Because Reiki is a balancing process, you need to drink plenty of water during the next days.

Many techniques use the hand healing system, but they don’t have the attunement process. Don’t fall that. Reiki cannot be learned by reading and cannot be practiced without attunement.
